Understanding the fundamentals of color, of light, how they work and why, enables me to (hopefully) transfer onto paper the emotion and feelings I have for the subject. Watercolor is an honest, stimulating  medium, one that creates an excitement I’ve not found with other media. Everything in this world seems to be a joy and an inspiration, however, I particularly enjoy painting the casually placed objects that make up our daily lives… the still life. They capture a brief moment in time; subjects that attract me most are filled with fabulous lights, intense darks and sensuous color. My goal is to capture the essence of the moment - not tell the whole story.

Mixed Media is a new venue for me and has opened a fire in my spirit.  It is all about the process, the challenge. It is about taking risks, breaking rules and making mistakes.  It is about working through feelings of trepidation (which all artists go through), growing and coming out the other side.  I love it and though watermedia is my base, everything else in the world can come into play… once you know the fundamentals, the rules… you can break them and your heart will begin to soar.
