ARTIST STATEMENT

As my family can attest, "happiness" to me is being surrounded by piles of art projects! However, I couldn’t decide between pursuing art or nursing, and nursing won out first. Now being a retired RN, with our family raised, I have the joy of returning to art.
I love the spontaneity of watercolor, experimenting with collage and pushing color to either a warm or cool intensity. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, I can’t help but bring the warm, vibrant colors of the Southwest to most of my work, but I am learning to express the cool, misty shades of the Northwest where I now live.
I love the whimsical as much as the realist art forms, and am especially intrigued by experimental directions. My goal is to share with viewers the laughter, serenity and surprises I find in watermedia
