The Mountain Valley Arts Council is fortunate to have on display the works of Guntersville artist LUCY PEERY. Her first opportunity to study art occurred at the University of Toledo from which she graduated in 1980. After trying oils, pastels and oil pastels, she experienced watercolors and knew she had found her true medium. Attending Arrowmont College in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for several summers and working with artists Sue Archer, Judi Betts and others gave her incentive to study with other artists: Mary Todd Beam, Carole Barnes, Mary Ann Beckwith, Jean Grastoff, Ted Minchin and Gerald Brommer Other than exhibiting at the Mountain Valley Arts Council and Winterfest, she has exhibited in the Huntsville Museum of Art, the Tennessee Valley Women's Conference, Marshall Space, Flight and Rocket Center, and the Kennedy Arts Center in Florence, Alabama. In addition to other art organizations, she is a member of Experimental Artists of Alabama and the Watercolor Society of Alabama.
