Nanette L Jones
GULF BREEZE, FLORIDA
| Although Nanette considers herself to be primarily self-taught, she has taken
workshops with many nationally known artists, including Zoltan Szabo, Al
Brouilette, Carole Barnes, Carrie Burns Brown, Don Andrews, Pat San Soucie,
Miles Batt, and Mary Todd Beam, and Ted Minchin. She has studied extensively on
her own, using art instruction books and art magazines as motivation toward
experimentation with various water media materials and techniques. Nanette was juried into the 1993, 1994, 2000 and 2001 National Exhibitions of the Watercolor Society of Alabama and received an award three of those years. She has also been juried into an exhibition of the Red River Watercolor Society of Fargo, North Dakota, in which she won an award. She was also juried in a Tallahassee Tri-State Exhibition, and her entry was purchased by a collector. In addition, she has been juried into five of the Alabama Members Shows sponsored by the Watercolor Society of Alabama and won an award three times. She won Best of Class in Abstract at the Alabama State Fair two years in succession. She won a Second Place Award at the Pensacola Interstate Fair in September of 2003. She has been active with the Watercolor Society of Alabama for many years, serving as its President in 1996-1997. She served as Membership Chairman for both the Watercolor Society of Alabama and the Southern Watercolor Society for several years. She served as Exhibition Coordinator for the Southern Watercolor Society two years. In 1995 she founded the art organization, Experimental Artists of Alabama, and serves on the Executive Committee. This organization sponsors juried exhibitions. Her entry in those exhibitions have won an award on several occasions.
