Susan Bright
NAVARRE, FLORIDA
| I was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama and spent 37 and a half of my
adult years working for the U.S. Government. After retiring in 1993, I moved to
the small mountain town of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and began to do what I'd
always wanted to do--paint. While living there for three years, I studied with
several notable Southwestern artists living in the area. It was there that I
began selling my art and entering shows. In 1996, I moved back down south and settled in Navarre, Florida. There I have continued my art, branching out from oils to watercolors and acrylics. Though I probably continue to use oils more than anything else, I love to experiment with different mediums and techniques. Just "creating" something is so much fun. I call myself "A Jill of all trades just having fun." I love painting seascapes of the beautiful area in which I am so fortunate to live. My favorite technique is using a palette knife with oils. Using that method I am able to achieve interesting textures and color mixtures. I paint what I love--seascapes, sunsets, clouds, flowers, animals and abstracts--depicting my love of color and texture. It gives me great pleasure and self-satisfaction to create an image that someone will enjoy and take pleasure from viewing.
